Welcome to S & P Power Units (Pty) Ltd!

We deal in alternative power sources; including most primary and rechargeable batteries and cells, solar panels, wind chargers, invertors, regulators, power supplies and battery chargers. We have a fully equipped workshop able to repack or build most battery packs. That includes battery repacks for cordless drills, screwdrivers and telephones.

Wind Turbines

Here is a description of the different type of products that we sell. You can click on the name of the category to view all the available products.

Solar PanelsSolar panel is a generic term used to describe a device that collects and converts solar energy into electricity or heat.
Wind TurbinesA wind turbine is a machine that converts the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used directly by machinery, such as a pump or grinding stones, the machine is usually called a windmill. If the mechanical energy is then converted to electricity, the machine is called a wind generator, wind turbine, or wind energy converter
Primary CellsA primary cell is any kind of electrochemical cell in which the electrochemical reaction of interest is not reversible, so used in disposable batteries. The most common primary cells today are found in alkaline batteries; earlier carbon-zinc cells, with a carbon post as cathode and a zinc shell as anode were prevalent.
Rechargable CellsRechargeable battery, also known as storage battery is a group of two or more secondary cells. This battery can be restored to full charge by the application of electrical energy. Commonly used secondary cell chemistries are lead and sulfuric acid, nickel cadmium (NiCd), nickel metal hydride (NiMH), lithium ion (Li-ion), and lithium ion polymer (Li-ion polymer).
Power Supplies and chargersAlso called a power supply unit or PSU, the component that supplies power to a computer. The power supply then pulls the required amount of electricity and converts the AC current to DC current. It also regulates the voltage to eliminate spikes and surges common in most electrical systems.
InvertersAn inverter is an electronic circuit that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). Inverters are used in a wide range of applications, from small switching power supplies in computers, to large electric utility applications that transport bulk power.
ConvertersIn electronic engineering, a DC to DC converter is a circuit which converts a source of direct current (DC) from one voltage to another. It is a class of power converter.
